Why We Chose Mamra Almonds

Mamra almonds yield less and cost more than commercial almonds. Here's why we chose them anyway for the White Bullet.

Some ingredients are easy to buy.

Others have to be chosen.

Mamra almonds fall into the second category.

When we started developing our White Bullets, we weren't looking for the cheapest almond or the most recognisable name. We were looking for an ingredient that reflected the way we wanted to build TRIGRRR.

After comparing different varieties, we kept coming back to Mamra.

Not because it sounds premium.

Because it felt honest.

What makes a Mamra almond different?

Most almonds available today come from large commercial farms that prioritise high yields and uniformity.

Mamra almonds are different.

They are typically grown in smaller quantities, harvested seasonally and are naturally less uniform in appearance.

Some are longer.

Some are shorter.

Some are darker.

Some are lighter.

They don't try to look identical.

Real ingredients rarely do.

Less quantity. More character.

One thing surprises people when they first learn about Mamra almonds.

The trees usually produce fewer almonds than many commercial varieties.

From a business perspective, that isn't ideal.

Lower yield means lower supply.

Lower supply usually means higher prices.

Which leads to the obvious question.

Why choose them?

Because we weren't trying to optimise for quantity.

We were trying to optimise for the kind of product we wanted to make.

Expensive doesn't automatically mean better.

Let's be clear.

Not everything expensive is worth paying for.

A higher price doesn't magically make an ingredient superior.

But sometimes a higher price is simply the consequence of producing something with greater care, lower yield or more limited availability.

The important question isn't,

"Is it expensive?"

It's,

"Is it worth it?"

For us, the answer was yes.

The easier path

We could have chosen a more common almond.

It would have reduced costs.

Made sourcing easier.

Improved margins.

Most people might never have noticed the difference.

But TRIGRRR isn't built around what people won't notice.

It's built around what we'll remember after every decision.

Every shortcut changes the company, even if it doesn't change the packaging.

A philosophy disguised as an ingredient

Choosing Mamra almonds isn't just about almonds.

It's about resisting a mindset.

The mindset that says cheaper is always smarter.

Faster is always better.

Good enough is good enough.

Sometimes those decisions are necessary.

Sometimes they aren't.

When we had the opportunity to choose the ingredient we genuinely wanted, we did.

That's the standard we'd like to keep following.

Why it matters

Will you instantly recognise a Mamra almond in every bite?

Maybe.

Maybe not.

That's not really the point.

The point is that someone had to decide what deserved to go into that recipe long before the product reached your hands.

We believe those invisible decisions matter.

Not because customers always see them.

Because they define the kind of company we're becoming.

More than an ingredient

Every TRIGRRR Bullet begins with choices that happen long before production starts.

The almond.

The saffron.

The pistachio.

The cardamom.

The milk solids.

None were selected to impress.

They were selected because, after asking enough questions, they still felt like the right answer.

Sometimes the smallest decisions leave the biggest fingerprints.

And we'd rather leave fingerprints than shortcuts.
